How to Remove Limescale Naturally (No Harsh Chemicals)
Sophie Allen Updated 18 June 2026 5 min read

The West Midlands has notably hard water, so limescale on taps, kettles and shower screens is a constant battle. The good news: you can shift it with everyday ingredients.
Vinegar is your best friend
White vinegar dissolves limescale brilliantly. Soak a cloth in warm vinegar, wrap it around taps, and leave for an hour before wiping clean. For kettles, fill with equal parts vinegar and water, boil, and rinse.
Lemon for shine
Cut a lemon in half and rub it directly onto chrome and stainless steel. The citric acid breaks down scale and leaves a streak-free shine.
